Sidney Coming Alive Music and Art's Festival

What an exciting time to be in Sidney Ohio. From Perfect weather and a high turn out. Sidney Alive bringing a festival back downtown was a much needed event for Sidney Ohio.

What is GOBA?

One main feature for the weekend was GOBA where 1500 bicyclists came to Sidney Ohio as a part of a 8 day biking tour. It is important to note that Goba is a tour not a race. As cyclists have time to enjoy the towns they are visiting. It worked well for the event to coincide with the festival The tour makes a large loop, with cyclists riding as few as 120 miles or as many as about 400 miles during the week, depending on which optional routes and cutoffs they choose. The tour finishes in the starting town, where riders’ cars have spent the week parked in a secured lot. For more information visit their website at https://goba.com/

Toy Drive

Another great local event was the toy drive with Agape, Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army volunteering to give free gifts to the children in attendance. There were some great toys given away with the top being a Lego Star Wars Gunship. Volunteers served more then 700 children from Shelby county. Agape Director Jeff McAtee felt it was very successful. The toy give away worked hand in hand with the United Ways free games, activities and events they had around the court square.

Children's Mural

Downtown was host to many activities especially near the renovated Sidney Ohio Theater where volunteer teachers from Sidney Highschool and Edison Community college oversaw the Children's Mural for Sidney Ohio.

Volunteers with Sidney Alivewere able to use modern resources such as an AP called Point. Point allows organizers to plan events, register volunteers and self assign to specific events. If you are interested in volunteering check out their facebook page, website, and download the point AP
